Bumblefoot
It's been a while since my last post so I thought I'd offer up a picture of the hens that I took last night while they were roosting:

One of the hens has a "boo boo" on her foot commonly known as bumblefoot. We managed to "doctor" it and bandage it for the evening. She seems no worse for the wear otherwise.

This morning she was hanging out with her sisters and running around the yard. It's nice to know she's not in much pain. We'll do a second round of "doctoring" this evening once they settle in to roost. I think we caught the case of bumblefoot early enough so that she should heal quickly. I'll keep you all posted.
On Friday we are heading to the Pacific Northwest to host a fundraising event called Raise the Roof: A Benefit for the Looking Out Foundation. This benefit will feature a set by Brandi Carlile and will hopefully raise over $25,000 for her Looking Out Foundation. After the benefit we plan on vacationing a bit in a cabin on a lake north of Seattle. Before heading home we will stay a few days in Colorado. I have never been to Colorado and am stoked to do some exploring and to catch a couple of Brandi Carlile's fall tour gigs while we are there.
If you haven't heard of Brandi Carlile, check out her music on her official website. Her single, "Dreams" is currently available on iTunes and the album, Give Up The Ghost, will drop on October 6th. You can also listen to it for free on her website. Even cooler is the fact that she is putting out the album on vinyl on September 29th. All of the songs were recorded live to tape and I love the way that translates onto vinyl. She kicks off a fall tour on September 10th in Utah and works her way across the US before doing an extensive East Coast tour. Check out one of the shows if you get a chance. You won't be disappointed.
I am looking forward to reconnecting with all of you TBA readers now that my summer madness has ended. I've missed you all. Can't wait to hear what's been happening in your neck of the woods.
