Corner readers, if you are in or around my favorite, the City of Philadelphia, this weekend and this coming week, get out and celebrate Poe!!  Edgar Allen's 200th birthday is the 19th, and the city is celebrating!

My friend Ed is a Philly born and bred Poe scholar and a contributor to a number of local papers. You can see his most recent editorial in the Philadelphia City Paper here where he calls on Philly to ditch Benny Franklin and Rocky as city icons and replace them with Edgar. I don't know, Ed. I kinda like Benny and Rocky, even if it's odd that one of the city icon's is a guy who lost the fight...

Plus, the whole curse of Billy Penn?  Not only was I thrilled they put a mini-Billy Penn atop the Comcast building, but I've been scouring the internet to find a mini-Billy Penn for myself.  Some people have bobble heads affixed to their dash?  That's got nothin' on the mini-Billy Penn that will someday be on mine.  And I'm so serious.

So get out and celebrate Poe!

But, Philly, please, let's at least keep Ben...
